Sailor Mars, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

The beautiful and mysterious shrine maiden Rei Hino by day, Sailor Mars is the token Aries of the Sailor Scouts, wielding fire against intergalactic foe in one of the most iconic anime of all time.​

To make the superhero suit with a sailor collar, I used a bodysuit from my closet to pattern a leotard from a spandex fabric. The skirt, bows, and collar were based on tutorials from YouTube and Pinterest using a costume satin for the red and an upcycled prom dress for the purple. The earrings were made by knotting elastic thread around beads to make star shapes, and the choker was scrap from the skirt. The gloves also are made from spandex with the red puffs sourced from an old pair of tights. Only the shoes, tiara, and wig were purchased for the costume.
